Questions about upgrading from CCM 6.1.4 to 8.0(3)

I have a few questions I want to confirm:

We have CCM 6.1(4) in our cluster that we will soon be upgraded to CCM 8.0(3a).

  1. First I want to install CCM 8.0(3a) into the inactive partition on all CCM servers without switching the version (or rebooting the server).  I will do the version switch on a seperate day.  Is that possible?

   2. I have the CCM 8.X software feature licence.  Do I need to install this license before I install CCM 8.0(3a) into the inactive partition or can I do that         before I do a "Switch Version"?

   3.  I'm assuming no additional licensing is needed for our device units right?

Thank you!

Hey Rya,

Yes, you can upgrade into the inactive partition and do the switch-version at a later

time. You will need to track any changes that are made to the db between the upgrade time

and the switch-version to redo them after the final step

The 8.x Software feature license will be added after the switch-version is completed.

All node and DLU licenses will be migrated during the upgrade.

The upgrade from 6.1(4) to 8.0(3) is a direct upgrade path as shown;
