Redundant E1 PRI from Telmex in Mexico

Hey everyone,

I am trying to order an additional inbound/outbound voice E1 PRI (probably R2) to act as a hot standby if the existing E1 fails.  Telmex claims they can provide the additional circuit, but a manual failover would be required for the secondary to take over for the active E1.  This means we have to call Telmex to make the switch which is not ideal.

Maybe we are not asking Telmex for the correct product.  I figured in the Telco world, this would just be called a "trunk group".  Can anyone say if they are doing this already with Telmex in Mexico, and what this service is called?

Thanks in advance

Hi

I thought it would build a trunk-group to 2xE1, and increase the circuit you are using 30 to 60 ports, it certainly more expensive but you will have the redundancy you need.
can send me a diagram of the topology?

Hello diego,

Attached is the basic design.  but you are in Argentina?

Regards

yes , i'm from Argentina. We could not speak Spanish? jajaj

If the idea is to put two routers you have to balance the ports from the CUCM using Route Groups

if you take the 2 e1 to a single router you can create a trunk group

which protocol to use to connect between the CUCM and routers? (SIP, MGCP, H323)?
which is the vercion of CUCM?

Hello Diego,

My problem is I cannot obtain a trunk group (2xE1) from Telmex in Mexico.

My question is not about the configuration on the Cisco side.

But thanks.
