Since the end of life has come for the 7911 series phones, What phone model is going to replace this phone? we really like the looks of this phone and have 3000 of them running in our system. I briefly looked at ciscos website but nothing stood out.

Thanks

Hi Kevin

The official recommended replacement from Cisco is the 6921.

Yes, That is what we are being told by our provider. The 6921 just looks cheap to us and reminds us a lot of the 7910 and the 7910 model did not stay around that long. I was hopeing there may be some info out there about a 79 series phone that would be replacing the 7911. not sure why they would discontinue the 11.  We also have a lot of people that move around from school to school and will have to know how to use 2 different models now.

Sorry for venting. Thanks for your info.

Kevin

Don't worry. I've been known to vent on these forums from time to time.

I use a 6921 in my office and it's actually ok. I like the full duplex speakerphone that the 7911 didn't have.

One area that your users could get a little confused is using transfer and conference. Rather than softkey based as they are on the 7911 there are hard buttons for each of these. Not sure why Cisco did this.

But other than that, I have to say the 6921s are solid enough.

3905 is another option, but it is even cheaper than the 69XX :-(

If you want to stick with 79XX series, you would need to go to 794X model.

HTH,

Chris

I use 3905s as door stops. All they are good for....

Good one (+5), I have been fortunate not to deal with these yet, but I see them being quoted more and more in place of 7911s which I will certainly miss.
