Resolved "SIP/2.0 401 Unauthorized" incoming call issues

I was experiencing an issue with a ITSP. After receiving an incoming call and hanging up, the next incoming call would fail.

The calling party would contiue to hrear ringing even after the IP Phone was answered.

The issue was resolved by changing expiry timers and adding retry registers to the sip-ua section.

Thanks to all who helped me thru the troubleshooting process.

I'm sorry to ressucitate a dead thread from 7 years ago, but I am having issues registering Cisco 7911, 7940 and 7942 phones on a remote Asterisk server and although everything seems ok (it registers on a local network server I set up for testing), I get the dreaded SIP/2.0 401 Unauthorized error.

Could you elaborate how you solved this? You stated

"The issue was resolved by changing expiry timers and adding retry registers to the sip-ua section."

Could you say exactly what was changed?

I am using firmware version 8.x that seems to be more stable with Asterisk servers.

Thank you
