I have two 7975G phones connected to an asterisk server. The phones can make calls. I was wondering if the phones support the RFC 3428 for Instant Messaging. So if a remote user sends a text message to one of the 7975G phones, that the phone would receive and display the text... does anyone know if the Cisco VoIP phones support text messaging and specifically RFC 3428?
Thanks,

That’s a big no; however, they do have a XML SDK that you could use to create such an application. It’s meant to be used with CUCM though since the phone normally submits API calls to the Authentication URL.

Thanks for the feedback. We are using Asterisk as the call manager. We want to relay text messages from other phones to the 7975G. So you are saying that would be development to get this working?
