send a text message to an IP phone

hello Guys,

i am developing an application in java that sends a text message to a 7940 phone. at the moment, i have developed a small instant message application for users on the network but i would like them to have the option of sending the text message to the user's phone or user's PC. i am rather new to developing applications so any code examples, docs are highly appreciated.
