We are currently running firmware version SCCP75.8-5-3S and want to upgrade to firmware version SCCP75.9-4-2sr1-1. We only want to upgrade a few phone right now. Will this work?
1) Run Software Upgrade | Install Upgrade from OS Administration to install the new firmware onto the CUCM server
2) Change the firmware Load Information on the Device Defaults Configuration from the newly updated firmware (SCCP75.9-4-2sr1-1) back to the previous version (SCCP75.8-5-3S) so that phones will not automatically update their firmware.
3) On the phone(s) that we want to upgrade, enter the new firmware file (SCCP75.9-4-2sr1-1) into the Phone Load Name and reboot the phone to upgrade its firmware only on selected phones.
4) Once we are ready to upgrade all other phones, change the Load Information on the Device Defaults to the new firmware version (SCCP75.9-4-2sr1-1).

Yes, that will work just fine, make sure to read the RNs from the target version as I don't believe you can do a direct upgrade from your current version.
