Hello,
I have few question about SIP trunks in general and wondering if some of these scenarios are possible to execute.
We have a customer with branches dispersed all over the place and DR sites.
We have two ingress SIP points one in HQ and one in DR. These two sites are in different states.
All of our branches have POTS lines and phones registered to the Call manager cluster and when they dial out they use the SIP trunk in the HQ site. The ANI is fine becuase we can change that in CUCM to reflect the same number as the POTS lines, the problem is with:
Is there a way to tell the Service provider via SIP that this call is coming from this specific location (Branch A for example) so send this address to 911?
Also is it possible for something like Single Number Reach to be setup in Service Providers so when people dial the POTS line it will also ring down the DID for that Branch?
Also as a bigger picture can two ingress SIP points share the same properties and be used as ACTIVE/ACTIVE HA? So basically it won't matter which point we use to route our calls and get the same results from DID, location and routing?
Thanks

Dialing 911 which doesn't report an accurate location and basically shows the HQ location when using the SIP
Easiest way to fix this would be to use DID's associated with the the location's address. You'd have a DID for each physical location and use that as the external mask for devices at that location. The telco should be able to set up the correct address for each DID. You can use native CER or full blown CER for this. But the easiest way is to just have telco do it based on calling number.
Those branches have local numbers and when people call and for example the pots line is down it won't ring down the IP phones
Inbound calls come in to the POTS lines? Is there a reason why the don't come in the SIP trunks? Sometimes the providers can forward calls when not answered. You'd need to reach out directly to the POTS line providers to ask. There is usually a permit charge for this and sometime you have to manually ask them to enable and disable.
I'd look at porting those POTS numbers over to the SIP trunk. Then use UCM to route the calls to the POTS lines if unable to reach the IP phones at the locations.
Also as a bigger picture can two ingress SIP points share the same properties and be used as ACTIVE/ACTIVE HA?
Yes. This the most common way we set up two or more circuits. For outbound its easy to do with UCM. For inbound you'd need to work with the telco on how they have it set up. All providers should be able to do this in some degree.
