I need to configure cisco 2801 router as an SS7 gateway from the PSTN side and a SIP dial peer from the VoIP side. The router include a E1 interface, Is this configuration is possible? is there a documents shows such configuration?
The router cannot interpret SS7 by itself. It does that with another device, the PGW, aka softswitch.. It is all part of a complex architecture for which you should check with your cisco senior systems engineer, or a very expereinced consultant.
You need Cisco hardwares like PGW2200 and AS5400 Media Gateways to do the SS7 interconnection with your provider. Your 2800 Router will not support ss7 functionality.
