Guys
as the title states, we are having a strange delay in dialing and overall voice quality at one of our customer sites. the problem is only linked to one location and this is a multisite setup.
the current setup is as follows
CUCM 5.1.2 with UNITY 5 (UM)
five branches connected back to HQ each running 4MB connections with a 4MB failover from a different provider.
the branch in question is located physically in the same area as HQ
This branch is connected via a L3 Switch versus the rest of sites that are connected via routers.
the L3 switch consists of FOUR L3 VLANS , two for the ISP , one for the Voice and one for Data.
HQ has a 3800 router and its default gateway is to a Checkpoint Firewall (R65 i think)
The issue
a few times per day, clients at this branch experience long delays in dialing extensions (similar to timing if trying to match a long digit string). when the call is completed the client experiences garbled voice and low volume.
The customer advises of the following temporary fix discovered accidentally
once the report is made the log into the main ROUTER at HQ, perform a show run and wr mem and issue goes away for the next few calls.
we have had that firewall checked a few times and im confident that it isnt the cause of this.
im at a loss as to why a show run will temporarily fix and issue so we upgraded to the latest release available for that router. this didnt solve the issue of course.
my plan of action is as follows
1. place router into the equation at the affected site versus the L3 switch
2. recheck QoS
3. open TAC case
the puzzle is that show run and write mem, if i can figure out what goes on behind that then i can zero in on the issue.
thoughts are most welcome and would be defintely be rated acccordingly.
thanks again

Hi,
I have some question:
1. Does the link are load balancing each other? Load balancing voice data between different service provider could cause some QoS problem, because packet can arrive very sort out.
2. Have you check router/switch CPU/RAM utilization?
3. Do you apply QoS on Wan/Lan?

Hi there,
all good checks that we have done in the past
1.we are using EIGRP
2. Yes - CORE is under 30% and each swich is 50% (kinda high still though right)
3. QoS on WAN only
thanks

Hi,
1. EIGRP can work with both so which one is?
2. What about CUCM CPU/RAM?
