Hello,

is there some Cisco tool for estimate the duration of an CUCM upgrade using PCD? or maybe with your experience you can say me (aprox, I know that there are a lot of variables) the time duration for a CUCM 8.0 cluster to CUCM 10.5 with 7 nodes and 4000 phones/users. thanks.

Regards

upgrade time depends on the server specs and database size. upgrade file gets installed in the in-active partition, so it would not impact your operation till the time you perform the switch version.

So to cut the time you can install necessary upgrade files and then schedule a MW to perform the switch version to complete the upgrade activity. normally 2 nodes lab cluster takes around 2 hours for the complete upgrade activity however as said it depends on the server specs and the database size you have.

No, there are no tools, there are just too many factors involved to get you something like that.

PCD will do one node at a time, and that's a RU, you'd probably consider around 3-3.5 hours for the PUB, and 2-2.5 hours for each SUB, just do the math for your 7 nodes. Bear in mind that once the server reboots, it still takes it another good 15-25 minutes before all services come up, plus whatever time you're also considering for testing the system after the upgrade.
