Hello,
We are in the process of installing CUCM 8.0 using UCS210 servers. Grateful if someone can help since this is our firstI have the following questions:
1. Should we install Windows in the server? If yes which Windows should we install?
2. Does Cisco ship the VMWare ESXi or should we download from VMware web site?
3. Do we have any documentation we must follow for the server preparation/ installation?
Thanks beforehand.
Regards,
Chandrasen

Chandrasen,
You are going to use the rackmount server to install CUCM.
Therefore you don't need to install any Windows OS.
Yo uwill need to install VMWare ESXi 4.x (boot directly from the VMWare install DVD)
A good documentation to start with is :
http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Unified_Communications_Virtualization
In terms of license, have a look at:
VMware licenses software on a per-populated-physical-CPU-socket basis (not physical CPU cores or virtual CPUs or virtual CPU cores). Each populated CPU socket per server requires a VMware license (with VMware product and version that is supported by Cisco UC).
While VMware ESXi is mandatory for UC to run on UCS servers, customers may purchase this license from any of the following sources:
For part number and SKU examples, see Table 1 of the UC on UCS page at www.cisco.com/go/swonly . Cisco employees and Channel Partners may also consult the UC on UCS chapter of the Cisco User Connect Licensing ordering guide on Cisco Partner Central.
Note: in all cases, the customer is required to have a valid service contract with VMware to be supported

Phoogen,
Thank you very much for the information. I will go through the document and try to install the CUCM using VMWare.

Phoogen,
I am going through the material list we have received from Cisco. Does Cisco send the VMware CDs or should I download the WMWare since I have not received them?
