Hello All,
I have a customer that has an existing Unity Connection server that has about 500 users on it. They are thinking of tieing it to LDAP so end users can use the web interface.
I know how to turn on the LDAP etc. but have not done one with an existing user database. I have a few questions.
- What happens to the existing users when it is tied in? i believe they are fine but want to make sure
- How do i map the existing mailboxes to the ldap users? is there a bulk tool to do that?
Any gotchas to this?
what is the best procedures for this.
thanks!
Ken

Yes they will be fine. Unlike UC Manager, Unity Connection is capable of dealing with a combination of local and AXL/LDAP-syncronized accounts.
How do i map the existing mailboxes to the ldap users? is there a bulk tool to do that?
Yes. You can use the BAT tool for this. You start by choosing Export > Users with Mailbox. This will give you a CSV of the users in Connection. You need to populate the LdapCcmUserId column with whatever you chose as the user ID (typically sAMAccountName). Feel free to update other columns as-needed and then use Update > Users with Mailbox to pull the changes in.

Ken,
Have you looked at Moves/Add/Changes guide for Unity Connection 8x? See the following chapter:

I am not sure what version of Unity Connection you are running but with 8.5 it appears to be a relatively straightforward process to accomplish what you are looking to do.
HTH.

Bill
