Upgrade from MPE 2.1.2 to MP8

Hello,

I have an issue with the upgrade from MPE 2.1.2 to MP8. I had a license for 16 audio and video ports in MPE 2 and now am trying to migrate that license to MP8. I have ordered the MPETOMP8-UPG= and the MP-CONVR-A-1UL-7.0, MP-CONVR-W-1UL-7.0 Conversion Licenses. I got the pak and through it the .lic file. I have uploaded the lic file to MP8 and though the lic file is recognized and I see 16 ports installed, I still only have 6 ports enabled.

Must I first install MP7, upload the lic file, then upgrade to MP8?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Ronin,

I'm pretty sure the upgrade path is OK. Did you try this step;

Note: The new licenses take effect immediately on the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Application Server. You do not need to reinstall or restart the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace operating system and application when you add licenses. However, if you added the license file after starting the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server, you must restart the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Master Service or reboot the Web Server. License options are loaded only during Web Server startup. See the Stopping, Starting, or Restarting the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Master Service module.

Hi Rob, thank you for your response.

I do not have an web server in my deployment, so that can not be a problem. I checked the License Manager and it is running.

Your answer gave me an ideea  and so directed me in the right direction. I looked at the lic file and saw that it contains only videoconf, voiceconf,..

INCREMENT videoconf cisco 99.0 permanent 16 HOSTID= \
INCREMENT voiceconf cisco 99.0 permanent 16 HOSTID=\
INCREMENT webconf cisco 99.0 permanent 16 HOSTID=\
FEATURE msft_int cisco 99.0 permanent 1 HOSTID= \

It does not contain any maxvideo, maxvoice, systemsoftware lines.

So I uploaded my MPE2.1.2 lic file on this MP8  server and now everything is ok. The trick is to upload both your mpe and mp lic files on the server.

Thanks for your help.
