Abhishek Singh

Hi All,

Can someone guide on this one.

Problem description :

A user ( a very important one) has requested this sceanrio: When call comes in on his phone , rather than reaching the voicemail, he wants a message being played to the calling user: " Voice Mail has been disabled for this user. Thanks" .

He does not need a voicemail for his extension. Is it possible ?

unity connection : 8.x

I only have Cisco Unity 7.x/8.x not connection but what I do for these requests is that I create a call handler that will just play a message then select the hang up option after greeting is played.  In Unity you can also set them up as a subscriber and treat the after greeting option the same way, but this uses a subscriber license.  Hope this helps even though my experience is with Unity and not Connection.

Yep, the same still applies in Unity Connection...+5 to you for that answer.  To make that change in Unity Connection, go to the user's mailbox and select Edit > Greetings > select the greeting type > After Greeting > Call Action > Hangup.

Hi Abhishek,

Hope all is well buddy

I would open & activate the Alternate greeting page. Use the

personal recording with no end date. Once you open that Greeting page

you should see the "After Greeting" options that our friend Hailey so kindly

pointed out.

Make sure to get access to the mailbox & record the

"Voice Mail has been disabled for this user"

script that this user requires.

The reason that I would use the Alternate Greeting in this case is that it

overrides all other greetings.

Cheers!

Hi Abhishek,

Try .wav instead when using Media Master in CUC to upload the custom file

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/7x/user/guide/assistant/7xcucugasst020.html

The format should be;

CCITT u-Law, 8 kHz, 8 bit mono for the .wave file

Cheers!

I've used Audacity for the same purpose many times.  Shouldn't be an issue.

Hi Abhishek,

No worries friend

You might be able to use Audacity for the conversion....

Hi David,

My bad

The Cisco unity connection version is : Cisco Unity Connection version: 7.0.2.10000-38

I do not have the  >>> After Greeting > Call Action > Hangup , option.

The greeting option that I am seeing are the one, which are shown in the above mentioned screen shot.

Thanks.

The legendary Huffman!  I agree on the alternate as it always plays when enabled.

Hailey

Hailey,

Thanks for that buddy! You are always too kind to me

I have added my +5 for both you and "S" for the actual

meat on the bones here.

Rob when we got the .wma file and tried to upload the file through a remote session, it shows the file is invalid, where as i played it and it was a correct .wmv file .

Attaching a screen shot for more desriptive view.

Thanks Rob, was in dire needs of this doc.

Also since the user is a MD , would rather change the format through Audacity , what say ?
