Hi,
Our company is in the process of changing from our Nortel PBX to a Cisco based IPT system. Our particular section uses FXO/FXS cards on a SONET multiplexer system for our analog POTS lines. Our current setup would be as follows:
Nortel PBX --> FXO Card (SONET NODE) --> SONET RING --> FXS Card (SONET NODE) --> Analog Handset
The telco is trying to setup the following:
VG224 (FXS) --> FXO Card (SONET NODE) --> SONET RING --> FXS Card (SONET NODE) --> Analog Handset
The Nortel setup has worked fine for years but the IPT setup does not. The analog handset will ring and disconnect before it comes off hook, sometimes it disconnects after one ring, sometimes it disconnects after six rings. If you pick up the analog handset, you get a dail tone everytime. And if you are on a call, sometimes it will drop into a hold state and will play the hold music for a few seconds, then take itself off hold and continue on with the call.
I can't comment on what kind of settings the VG224 is programmed to use or how the call manager is setup, that is handled by the telco, I am responsible for the SONET part of the system, and I can tell you anything you need to know about that. Our techs have been working with the telco techs for a couple days now and haven't been able to figure it out. I should also note that isolating the SONET system completely and clipping on a test set phone directly to one of the ports on the VG224 results in the same conditions.
From searching and reading through others posts, I have come to the conclusion that the settings on the VG224 need tweaking and if any one has any ideas that I could pass along I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Laine.

Hi,
I would check the wiring of the cable from the VG224 to the distribution wiring frame etc
The cable needs to be wired as per :-
