Dear All.
My client had CUCM 8.0 running on virtual environment. After a while, they upgraded it to CUCM 8.6 unrestricted version. The question is. Would it be possible to switch back version to the old 8.0 restricted version and then use PCD to upgrade the system to CUCM 10.5 ?

Hi,
you can do that because CUCM 8.0 is lying in INACTIVE PARTITION but the changes you have done in CUCM 8.6 would be last after u switch back to 8.0 RST.
Secondly, from CUCM 8.6 UNRST, u can use PCD to move CUCM 10.5 UNRST .
PCD works the same way as CUCM upgradation works RST to UNRST but not UNRST to RST .

Dear Aman,
I am grateful to your quick kind reply. I just need to clrarify. That my client is using CUCM residing on virtual environment with cisco c210m2 servers. Vmware ver 4.1 is currently installed. He got 4 servers. Can you provide more details or guide lines on how to switch back from 8.6 unrestricted to 8.0 restrected. Then upgrading from 8.0 restricted to 10.5 restricted. Using pcd. What do I need to do. I mean what is the requirements to be done prior doing the switching and upgrading tasks.?

Hi Ali,
You need to place order through PUT[product upgrade tool] to get all iso images .
I suggest reading PCD administration guide which gives all the details for PCD requirments, discovering the existing cluster and how to migrate.
prior to do upgradation , run LCU [license count utility] to have breakup of licenses [UCL enhanced/Enhaced Plus/Essential/CUWL Std] which needs to be shared with licensing@cisco.com. LCU is downloadable from Cisco site and needs to be run on PC from where CUCM8 is accessible.
you can also refer the link with detailed explaination by Ashwani if u do not want to opt for PCD
