Voice Gateway Issue

Hi all,

There is a 3800 router with fxo port registered as voice gateway. The problem is when there is an incoming call to a phone line connected to fxo port , there is a delay in transferring the call to IP phone. The caller hears 10 rings
and only after that the IP phone rings, so there seems a huge delay in landing calls to the IP phone.

Is there any workaround?

Thanks,

Sheriff

Hi,

There is a possibility that the call probably did not even hit your gateway and the ring back that you hear is something called as "false ring back".

So, what you can do is make a test call and run the output of:

# show voice port summ  or  # show voice call status

Check if the port status changes when you are hearing a ring back on your cell phone.

If not, then you know where to head to.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Bijo

Hi Bijo,

I tried running the commands and noticed that during the false ring there is no output in the router. After the phone actually rings the output appears. Literally during the false ring the call is not hitting the gateway. After 10 false rings the cal is hitting the gateway.

Thanks,

Sheriff

hi

disable the caller id and check. sometimes it cloud be an ISP issue,if they are giving the SIP lines converting to analog

You need to check with Provider, because some time it is ISP Issue.

Connect FXO cable direct to VG without modem. And also try below command also.

Please try this with VG on global Command.

VG-HQ1#Conf t
VG-HQ1(config)#voice rtp send-recv
VG-HQ1(config)#voice-port 0/1/0
VG-HQ1(config-voiceport)#shutdown
VG-HQ1(config-voiceport)#timeouts interdigit 10
VG-HQ1(config-voiceport)#no shut
VG-HQ1(config-voiceport)#do wr
VG-HQ1(config-voiceport)#exit

It is because of overlapping on Dial-peer (check carefully). for H.323
Change T302 to 15000 to 500 in CUCM.
