Voice Ports/DSP Problem

Elie Bassil

Hello,

I have a problem on the voice ports of a 3825 Router, randomly the voice ports stop working, a shut noshut doesnt solve the issue, while a reboot of the router does solve it. I have attached the logs before restarting the router. Could it be a physical problem with the DSP (need replacement?).

(C3825-SPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(13d)

Cisco 3825 (revision 1.1) with 226304K/35840K bytes of memory.

Processor board ID FCZ111073JT

2 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces

2 Channelized E1/PRI ports

26 Voice FXO interfaces

16 Voice FXS interfaces

DRAM configuration is 64 bits wide with parity enabled.

479K bytes of NVRAM.

62720K bytes of ATA System CompactFlash (Read/Write)

10x,

E.B:.

Hi Elie,

There are few bugs that I would like to bring to your notice:

CSCsb38769(DSMP stuck in S_DSMP_COLLECTING_STATS)

CSCdx48844(Transmit Ring is full)

I would suggest upgrading code to more stable 124T releases.

It looks like one of the DSP's have gone bad. Can you post the output of 'show voice dsp group all' . Also perform a test using 'test voice driver' command.Select slot 0>> DSP5510 test and display the keepalive status by keying in the right digits as shown in the menu prompt. Check whether it shows the DSP status as 'Not Alive'. You might want to open a TAC case and get the DSP's replaced if they have gone bad.

Hope that helps

Hi Nitesh,

Thanks for you reply, I have attached the new outputs. The DSP isn't showing any "Not Alive" status. Are there any additional commands to test the DSPs so we know if it is a physical problem or maybe IOS bug (although I did some research and couldnt relate to any bug.

Thanks for the help,

Hi vasank,

Thanks for the above but I don't think the bug CSCsb38769 affects 12.4(13d) since it is not listed in the KAV. While

the bug CSCdx48844 isn't tied to the problem in subject. Is there anything else we might consider before replacing the DSP which I am leaving as a last option?

Hi Elie,

There is a possibility of the DSP firmware being bad.To eliminate that as a cause of this issue you can perform an IOS upgrade to a stable 12.4 T train as suggested by Vasanth.
