VOIP SIP and 2811 router limitations

Hello

My customer is looking to deploy VOIP using SIP to a company called LiveVox over MPLS VPN.

From what I can find off Cisco web site the 2811 can support 36/144 IP phones depending on configuration.

All call management will originate at Livevox and will not require Cisco Call Manager. So, with that stated this will just pass the calls to the vendor(LiveVox).

LiveVox states each call will need 90k.  It is proposed to put in place a 20meg circuit to support this.  My customer states that there will be 200 + concurrent calls.

My first reaction is that the 2811 will not handel this load.  Do I treat the VOIP as data since there is no VOIP processing on the router ?

Is there a rule of thumb for this type of instance on sizing the router ?

Thanks in advance

Christopher Tomlinson

A 2811 will do that just fine. A 1941 also.

For the rotuer, that is just data, not voice.

Note in my opinion and experience, this kind of "solutions" are much inferior to have a local CME for example.
