Counter for SVI on 4500X

Hi everyone

I have recently setup IPv6 routing on my Cisco 4500x and ran into problem for calculating the rate of traffic.

i have 2 Vlan Interfaces which are for ipv4 and ipv6 routing. the "counter" command is applied to both interfaces.

the Vlan interface used for ipv4 is showing the rate just fine but the one for IPv6 only shows the input rate and the output rate is 0.

i know there is about 40mbps output traffic on the interface.

IPv6 interface: switch#show int Vl1095
Vlan1095 is up, line protocol is up , Autostate Enabled
Hardware is Ethernet SVI, address is cc16.7e6f.debf (bia cc16.7e6f.debf)
Description: IPV6.INTERFACE
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1000000 Kbit/sec, DLY 10 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255
Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set
Keepalive not supported
ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
Last input 00:00:01, output never, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters never

also the ios image is: "bootflash:/cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.11.04.E.152-7.E4.bin"

i tried both "counter" and "counter ipv6" on the IPv6 interface but is doesnt make any difference.

the running config is as below:

interface Vlan1095
description IPV6.INTERFACE
no ip address
load-interval 30
ipv6 address ??/126
ipv6 enable
counter ipv6
end

is there anything i can do about it?

Thanks, Amir

Hi

I couldn't try upgrading the software version because the device is in production enviroment.

but i solved the problem by changing the next hop which is displayed in ipv6 cef.

looks like the problem was that the next hop for the ipv6 prefix was a link-local address and by changing it to a global address, the output rate started to show up in my graphs.

Thanks @marce1000 and @DanielP211

       - Use latest advisory software version for the 4500x and check if that can help ,

Hello!

Try upgrading to E7. And a reload could help.
