I have a q-in-q port with this configuration
interface GigabitEthernet3/48
description QinQ Vlan 4001
switchport
switchport access vlan 4001
switchport mode dot1q-tunnel
mtu 9216
And when I do an show interface, I have too many giants!!!
See:
show interfaces gigabitEthernet 3/48
0 second input rate 15995000 bits/sec, 6847 packets/sec
30 second output rate 42934000 bits/sec, 7398 packets/sec
12119513 packets input, 3487891635 bytes, 0 no buffer
Received 11430 broadcasts (2742 multicast)
0 runts, 286638 giants, 0 throttles
0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored
0 watchdog, 0 multicast, 0 pause input
0 input packets with dribble condition detected
13336371 packets output, 9435347176 bytes, 0 underruns
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 0 interface resets
0 babbles, 0 late collision, 0 deferred
0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier, 0 PAUSE output
0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out
Why this? Is someone sending more than 9216 bytes in one packet?
The port is connected to another switch and this switch I tried to setup with MTU 1500 and 9216 and I had the same behavior.

The inconsistent behaviour is only cosmetical and has been corrected in SXE1 where the counters are counted correctly on the PO and the Phy interface
