The company wants to upgrade the 7206VXR from NPE-300 to NPE-G2. The currently IOS is c7200-p-mz.122-15.T17.bin.
The only 12.2 IOS which support NPE-G2 is 12.2.31-SBXX. Then 12.4.xTx.
So I pick up 12.4.11T3 (ED) SP SERVICES and 12.2.31-SB3x (ED) SERVICE PROVIDER.
Before I upgrade the production gear, I did some testing to ensure the new IOS is compatible
with the currently MPLS configuration and I found some problem.
Here's some of the current configuration,
address-family vpnv4
neighbor 202.x.x.x activate
neighbor 202.x.x.x route-reflector-client
neighbor 202.x.x.x next-hop-self
neighbor 202.x.x.x send-community extended
neighbor 202.x.Y.Y activate
neighbor 202.x.Y.Y route-reflector-client
neighbor 202.x.Y.Y next-hop-self
neighbor 202.x.Y.Y send-community extended
default-information originate
no auto-summary
exit-address-family
address-family ipv4 vrf voipcore
redistribute static metric 10 route-map voipcore
redistribute ospf 7001
default-information originate
no auto-summary
no synchronization
exit-address-family
The problem is under address-family vpnv4,
default-information originate, no auto-summary are no longer valid command
Also under address-family ipv4 vrf,
no auto-summary is no longer valid command.
It occurs in both IOS I mentioned.
I do not know which IOS I can use or what alternative configuration I can modify.
I might need to log a case to TAC but their respond sometimes is very slow and inefficacy.
Thanks in advanced for your help.

We're running many NPE-G2 since the moment they became available. Tested many images and came to conclusion that 12.4XD train is the most usable out of all that available for this platform. If you're not running LNS/LAC, you can take 12.4(4)XD7. If you're running LNS/LAC, you will likely face crashes with XD7. Either go with XD5 or open TAC case and ask for bug fix for LNS. Even if 12.4XD train based on T train, XD is the only one that has all functionality working properly. TAC will try to push you for T or SB, if this works for you - fine, but for us were too many bugs to fix, so we settled for XD at the moment.
Both auto-summary and default-info originate are available in XD and we use it often.
For your image you can use workaround to originate default route - 'network 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0'.

Thanks for your reply, iLya.
I did tried 12.4XD but it looks like the Cisco change their code completely.
For 122-15.T17, under address-family vpnv4,
r1(config)#router bgp 65003
r1(config-router)#address-f vpnv4
r1(config-router-af)#?
Router Address Family configuration commands:
auto-summary Enable automatic network number summarization
bgp BGP specific commands
default Set a command to its defaults
default-information Control distribution of default information
distribute-list Filter networks in routing updates
exit-address-family Exit from Address Family configuration mode
help Description of the interactive help system
neighbor Specify a neighbor router
no Negate a command or set its defaults
table-map Map external entry attributes into routing table
But for 12.4X or 12.2.SB,
r1(config-router)#address-f vpnv4
r1(config-router-af)#?
Router Address Family configuration commands:
bgp BGP specific commands
default Set a command to its defaults
exit-address-family Exit from Address Family configuration mode
help Description of the interactive help system
maximum-paths Forward packets over multiple paths
neighbor Specify a neighbor router
no Negate a command or set its defaults
timers Adjust routing timers
Both auto-summary and default-info originate are no longer available.
I am more concerned with no auto-summary...
Cheers
