Capturing MPLS with embedded packet capture on 903

Hi,

I want to capture MPLS traffic with the embedded packet capture on a cisco 903.

So far I was unsuccessful. I can't find a way to specify MPLS as protocol. I could capture BFD packets but no MPLS.

Is it possible, and if yes can someone point me in the right direction?

Thank you in advance.

Hello @kasper123 ,

according to the following document

https://community.cisco.com/t5/networking-documents/packet-capture-using-epc-embedded-packet-capture/ta-p/3152555

you may need to specify cef switched to be able to capture MPLS packets but they are not IP packets so I am not sure you will able to capture them.

MPLS packets have ethertype 0x8847

see

8847     MPLS

https://www.iana.org/assignments/ieee-802-numbers/ieee-802-numbers.xhtml

However,, if the MPLS packets are carried within an 802.1Q tagged VLAN or service instance the external ethertype would be that of 802.1Q 0x8100.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
