Hi,
According to this link (Cisco Data Centre Interconnect Solutions) http://www.cisco.com/en/US/solutions/collateral/ns340/ns517/ns224/ns949/ns304/ns975/at_a_glance_c45-493703.pdf
Ethernet over MPLS over GRE is supported on ASR1000 series. There is no mention about any restrictions based on model - can an ASR1002 with the 5Gbps RP1 do it? We will need to encrypt the GRE tunnel - will the ASR1002 handle this ok too?
Thanks in advance.

Hello Patrick,
ASR 1000 should be able to support it because it has also the ESP module that takes care of encryption and GRE encapsulation.
the limit on ASR 1002 is that of 5Gbps throughput. actually 1,8 Gbps is what you can get on it of encrypted traffic
