a quick question,
how long does it take for a transit provider to propagate our prefix to the internet so that anybody in the internet has the knowedge of my prefix?
One day? 3 days?

immediately no delay. and also depend upon the prefix like /24 /23 /22 or /21 or /19.

Immmediately ? Not all and there is no dependence on the network prefix len
Well, it depends from the service provider signalling infrastructure (= routing plane)
Ever heard of BGP route dampening ?
look for it on the CCO and then try to the whole internet what happens when a prefix changes its state.
Then try to have a look at CAIDA and use some of the traceroute facilities like the one provided by TIS (url = etabeta.seabone.net) or have a look at www.traceroute.org
How many router hops are behind a BGP AS path ?
hope to help
