Hi,
Comparing the IP event dampening default timers available in IOS and XR platforms, I can see some of them are different.
Half life:
IOS: 5 seconds
XR: 1 minute
Reuse:
IOS: 1000
XR: 750
max suppress time:
IOS: 20 seconds
XR: 4 minutes
Questions:
1. In a network with mixed platforms (IOS and XR) could be safe to enable dampening using default timers at both type of platforms? or to make them match? for example: keep only the XR devices with default timers and modify the IOS timers to match the XR ones? or viceversa.
2. Is it useless to enable dampening in a physical interface member of a bundle/channel? as it does not participate directly in the routing process, think it is safe to enable it at the l3 bundle interface instead?
Thanks,
carlos Trujillo.
