L3/MPLS Netflow

I have some questions can somebody answer :)

a) L3 routed ip packets, which entered switch unlabeled and then forwarded

over mpls path - get recorded into netflow table.

b) MPLS switched (i.e., packets, entered router being labeled, and

exited router being labeled too) packets does not getting into the

netflow table. (May be, in some next release with netflow v9 they

will be, but not with the current 12.2.17sxd - 12.2.18sx releases..)

c) Packets, which entered switch labeled and then label removed

and packet forwarded unlabeled by default not recorded into netflow

table, and you need to explicitely configure 'mpls netflow egress'

on egress interface for that packets to be recorded in netflow table

(also, interesting question is that is this feature supported for

6500: feature navigator says 'no', but for the same ios number/featureset

for 7600 it says 'yes').

d) packets, entering and exiting EoMPLS crossconnects are not entering

netflow table.

NetFlow is a Cisco IOS application that provides statistics on packets flowing through the router.

It is emerging as a primary network accounting and security technology. Netflow is not MPLS aware by default. But it can be configured so that it will understand and record MPLS statistics as well. Have a look at the following URL which explains the configuration of MPLS aware Netflow.
