Hi There is a connection between New York to California via mpls. The second connection is via public internet. mpls is private connection. Generally can we say mpls is fast than public internet? The answer might be depends. How do you think about it? Thanks

Sure you answered already, DEPEDNS
you have mentioned MPLS and Internet Links - you have not mentioned what capacity they are ?
Now a days Most of the Internet Links are cheaper compare to MPLS in the cost.
So depends on the requirement - some time MPLS prefered over Internet.

Thank you for your reply.
@balaji.bandi You mentioned " you have not mentioned what capacity they are ?" Can you talk a little about it based on different capacity that the current market has? I mean what situation mpls would be fast
@MHM Cisco World Why its fast?

SP provide this Fast,
SP run tech like MPLS TE to give you good QoS which in turn make your traffic fast.

Right, but might be not only this.
The speed depends on how much bandwidth you buy
From isp perspective, MPLS is run by one isp, Public internet would need to go through several isp. If comparing the two, we need to suppose to compare the two connection with the same cable without bandwidth limitation. This way MPLS might be fast.
The reason why asking the question is once we change to SDW, the speed would be the same or slow. can you answer?

let ask you
you have two
MPLS and Internet

which one is faster ?

If this is a case, the two do not have difference. That also means isp decide this. so that we do not need to care about this speed issue
