Hi expert,
Can you please shed light on the situation below please? thanks.
Fa0/0.11 (.1) 20mbps Primary 802.1q vlan 11 172.16.1.0/30 ebgp ( .2) Fa0/0.11
(AS 35) Fa0/0.12 (.5) 5mbps Failover 802.1q vlan 11 172.16.4.0/30 ebgp ( .6) Fa0/0.12
MPLS PE =================================================================================== CE (AS 65000)
Fa0/1 (.9) 20mbps Primary 172.16.1.8/30 ebgp (.10) Fa0/1
Note:
- 2 physical links (FA0/0 & Fa0/1)
- 3 logical WAN links ( 2 x 20mbps primary links & 1 x 5mbps failover)
- 2 x 20mbps PRIMARY links MUST load share 50/50 (Fa0/1 & Fa0/0.11)
- if primary link goes down it failovers to 5mbps link (Fa0/0.12)
- PE - CE via eBGP
- PE AS 35 (use same AS for all WAN links)
- CE AS 65000 (use same AS for all WAN links)
How do I go about provision the above scenario?
- creating loopback on PE and CE and build ebgp neighbor to loopback with ebgp-multihop;
will load share the primary links but since failover link is in the same physical link to one of the primary links
then the back up links seem never going to be used. Because if primary link (both fa0/1 and fa0/0) down
then the back up link which is under physical interface fa0/0 will automatically go down.
- What is the best solution to the above? Can any one guide? Are there any reference or sample configuration
with the above scenario?
Thanks
Rick

Correction: Title is supposed "
And tidy up the topology:
Fa0/0.11 (.1) 20mbps Primary 802.1q vlan 11 172.16.1.0/30 ebgp ( .2) Fa0/0.11
(AS 35) Fa0/0.12 (.5) 5mbps Failover 802.1q vlan 11 172.16.4.0/30 ebgp ( .6) Fa0/0.12
MPLS PE ======================================================= CE(AS 65000)
Fa0/1 (.9) 20mbps Primary 172.16.1.8/30 ebgp (.10) Fa0/1
Someone please help.. I have been pulling my hair for more than a week.
Thanks
Rick

Anybody please ask me if the questions are not clear. Sandip Rathod, Peter Paluch and the team, please help me.
At least communicate with me if my question is not clear. Thanks a million.

Hi Rick,
I am not expert as topguns you named above, but I will try my best to help you
As you said, backup link is not much as backup (do both vlans 11&12 have same L2 path) and I am not sure about your failover scenario.
Can you please also provide your L2 topology?
Also what exactly did you mean by "if primary fails it failovers to backup"?
You have two primary links and you want to load share between them, so if one of them will fail, other one will be still working, so it will be used.
If both 20Mbps links will fail, then traffic will failover to backup 5M link although it will be probably also down.
Is this what you are trying to achieve?
here is cisco doc where you can read about bgp load-sharing:

Best Regards
