Netflow in MPLS Backbone using Cisco 7600

Hi All,

I want to see traffic characteristic on Cisco 7600 using netflow, but in MPLS domain. I need to see traffic on every VRF on PE routers, where they go, what is their bandwidth utilization. I believe this can be done properly using netflow. But after configuring common netflow, I understand that the configuration of common netflow will not account MPLS traffic. At least from what I have after testing it ingress and egress on a PE uplink interface (MPLS-enabled) I only see control protocol packet such as LDP. After reading some doc at Cisco.com, I saw that there's MPLS-aware Netflow, which I am sure need to be configured on my routers in order to get the result I need. But it seems that Cisco 7600 does not support this. Can anyone confirm?

Actually there's something else called MPLS egress netflow. I have read the doc regarding this feature but still have some doubts about this. This feature is used to read netflow packet egress for a particular VPN on a PE router right? But from the configuration example, I saw that we also need to configure PE ingress interface from MPLS backbone. Can anyone explain a little bit about this?

Thanks,

Prima

Hi Prima,

This question has been already answered several times and the answer is still the same :-) : it's not supported on 7600 platform due to hardware limitation.

Hi Laurent,

I just want to confirm. It seems that 7600 has so many limitations. Gotta be careful with this beast.
