PE-CE RIP in MPLS

Hi

Iam running PE-CE Routing protocol as RIPv2 for a MPLS-VPN. The RIP Multicast pass through a Switch and for some reason the RIP updates werent coming through so enabled neighbor command under RIP in the CE router and hence reeceived updates from the PE Router. But for updates to the PE router, I could not enable neighbor under the address-family and had to do it under the global RIP config. Is this normal behavoiur and why should it happen this way ? IOS on my PE is 12.2(18)S5

Here is my sample config

router rip

version 2

neighbor 192.168.250.1

!

address-family ipv4 vrf A

version 2

network 192.168.250.0

default-information originate

exit-address-family

interface GigabitEthernet0/2.8

encapsulation dot1Q 3

ip vrf forwarding A

ip address 192.168.250.2 255.255.255.252

ip rip v2-broadcast

no cdp enable

Can u explain to me as to why it is normal behaviour ? Iam kinda confused. A 'vrf' neighbor being configured globally

The support for the neighbor command for VRF under RIP was introduced by CSCdy77097 in 12.2(22)S.

In 12.2(18)S5, the neighbor command is global and therefore applies to all address families.

Let me know if I answered your question,
