I am doing a testing with CESoPSN PWE3 where in my local E1 is getting heavy underruns and overruns counters. But someone suggested me to increase the jitter buffer size. I don't know why he has suggested this and whats the root cause of jitter buffer in underruns and overruns. If anyone is having any type of clarity or document, please share.

Hi Shiv,
Attenuate Packet Delay Variation (PDV) : Packet networks create latency and more important PDV, also known as jitter. The TDM service cannot function with the jitter inherent in packet networks and so the pseudowire emulation must be able to smooth out the jitter of the packet network. This is done by using a jitter buffer, which stores packets on the receive side and transmits them smoothly to theTDM link.

Appreciate for the document. Now my question is how to calculate the jitter buffer value for CES0PSN circuit to avoid underruns and overruns.

Hi Shiv,
Please refer the document for more detail about Jitter Buffer, ( Good Document )
http://www.maxim-ic.com/app-notes/index.mvp/id/4115
And it was new learning to me also that how to calculate the jitter buffer.
In the above document you will find the detail how to calculate & also you can refer the below document for CESoPSN DS0 Lines: Payload and Jitter Limits.
