You can find the difference from feature navigator, the only difference is architecture and platform limitations, but they depend on feature wise.

Hi all,
IOS XE retains the exact same look and feel of IOS, The operation, support and management of IOS XE does not require re-training from classic IOS, except for little minor changes in the commands views and some outputs is due to the customization that reflects the process-oriented approach of IOS XE
In IOS XE, IOS 15.0 runs as a single daemon within a modern Linux operating system. Additional system functions now run as additional, separate processes in the host OS environment. and can be running on a multicore CPU.
The same feature available at the 7200 IOS are on the IOS XE routers except some ATM features like ( L2 Local Switching) and other added feature like "Traffic Monitoring, VPLS,..........)

Hi Ahmed,
there are significant architecture differences between 7200 and ASR series, primarily how the packets are forwarded.
On a 7200 with a NPE-G2 standalone enogne you will get a throughput of max 256Mbps, whereas the 1002 can goive you 2.5Gbps plus spees, through the box. Packet is handled in hardware in ASR as opposed to software in 7200.
Also the 1002 gives you software redundancy, meaning you can switch between two instances of OS within the same box!!
The ASR is posiitoned as:
WAN Aggregation including secure WAN
Internet Gateway with Performance
Routing and Firewall
Managed Services Solution with highly
integrated services
High-end branch office solution
Highly scalable Route Reflector
So the XE platform is more feature rich and can handle more than the traditional IOS. Also the XE platform is multi threaded and the ASR's have more versatality in how the software runs. You can terminate processes, start them, fine tune memory etc. However those are not recommended.
XE supports all IOS CLI and much more.
Regards
