Hi!
Is it possible to have a CAT6 cable going to SFP module (C3850-NM-2-10G) using a SFP Copper Transceiver?
Will it work for 10gb speed? If yes, what Transceiver should I get?

Cisco has SFP-10G-T-X
check compatible matrix with your Switch model. (high level it is not supported ?)
https://tmgmatrix.cisco.com/?si=SFP-10G-T-X
depends on the Model Cat 3850 has Ethernet port support 10GB on Rj45 port.

SFP-10G-T-X may not work due to firmware issue on the switch, however, non-Cisco branded optics might.

Hi Leo, thank you for your insights. By any chance do you know any 3rd-party that is compatible with Cisco 3850 switch or my NIM?

Check your DM/PM.

I do recall an issue a while back with 10Gb on an RJ45 SFP+ module used in a 3850. The compatability matrix also does not list that SFP+ module for the NIM you provided. The SFP-H10GB-CU1M is listed however, 10Gb Direct attach copper, I think they start at .5 meter. The part I listed is the 1Meter flavor. Those DACs are easy reliable decision.
One other thing to pay attention to is how many can be used concurrently. Not really applicable in your scenario but I ran into an issue on the Cat 9500 series that fully supports the 10Gb RJ45 SFP+ modules, but no more than 8 can be used concurrently, per switch. That limitation does not exist for 10Gb fiber or direct-attach copper assemblies on the same switch. Maybe that goes away in a IOS-XE revision down the road.

Hey Bobby,
Thanks for sharing this info. This SFP-H10GB-CU1M is a preterminated cable, this wont work for my situation. I am looking for an RJ45 socket since I will need to connect it to a Server that has 10Gb port.

At this we can only say you need to connect and test, if you have one.
