Heya, i've got a bit of a problem with Cisco Packet Tracer, i'm quite new to this, so if I ask any "stupid" questions, my apologies. Also if i've picked the wrong board, also apologies.
I was configuring a DHCP Server for a network with 1 router, 2 switches and each switch gets 2 PC's. The 4 PC's are supposed to get an IP address from the DHCP Server. However, only 2 of the 4 PC's get assigned a default gateway, while the other 2 do not.
The 2 PC's on Orinoco Switch2 did get the right default gateway, while the 2 PC's on Orinoco Switch1 got 0.0.0.0
This makes pinging from for example "Orinoco PC0" to "PC0" not possible. The 4 PC's did all get the appropiate IP-addresses, but not the default gateway.
To make the DHCP IP-addresses work for both switches I went into the router, I went into the config of the connection of both switches, and set the helper address to the IP address of the DHCP server. In the images I attached you can see how I configured it.
In the router ive set the IP-address of Switch1 connection to 192.168.1.1 and Switch2 to 192.168.4.1
So basically what I want is that PC0 and PC1 get the appropiate default gateway (in this case 192.168.1.1) so that I should be able to ping from for example "Orinoco PC0" to "PC0".

Hello,
I changed some values back and forth in the default DHCP server pool, saved the changes, and after that, it worked. Packet Tracer can be quirky, especially the DHCP server.
Also, you do not need an IP Helper address on the LAN interface if the DHCP server is in the same network.
Attached the revised file, saved in PT version 8.1.1 (latest version).

Hello,
post your zipped Packet Tracer project (.pkt) file...

So its about the top left part "Orinoco". I've got the same problem with all the other parts with 2 switches.
For now I just want to be able to ping from for example "Orinoco PC0" to "PC0". I know that I still have to do the routing for me to be able to ping to the networks under the "big news" router for example.
I have added the zip file to the original post.

Hello,
one of the 'quirks' in Packet Tracer and DHCP is that you explicitly have to exclude the IP address of the default gateway, if you don't, it will assign that address to the first device that requests an IP address.
