Dear Team,
kindly let me know how the logs are generated in Cisco -Pi 2.1
These logs generated by Prime are the prime generated logs or the device genrated logs.??

TD

Hi TD,
logs are generated due to processes\jobs\events running in the background. Most of them are stored
under /opt/CSCOlumos/logs
devices generated logs called syslogs are not stored in any logs file as of now in PI. they are read directly from UDP port 514.
Thanks-
Afroz

Hi Afroz,
Thanks for the support....
So in prime logs are generated as per the back ground processes.... So hw this process will run??
Whether based on the Logs which prime getting from the device???????
From the above i understood that Pi will read the syslog from the devices through the UDP port. and stored in Pi s built DB.
Which DB prime uses??????
Regards
TD

TD,
PI as an application server has numerous processes that run during server startup and onging operation as controlled by its built-in daemon manager. Many of those processes generate logs as part of their startup and ongoing operation. They have nothing to do with the managed devices but rather give the status of the server itself and processes it is running.
Device-generated syslog messages are received by PI and stored in its internal database. It uses Oracle. You can see all of the Oracle processes if you go into the PI root shell and issue the command "ps -ef".

Adding to Afroz's correct reply, device-generated syslog messages that are received on udp/514 are stored in a database and not in human-readable file format.
