CiscoWorks Appliance in the works?

Good afternoon all,

A while back we were looking into upgrading our SUN/Oracle server to better service our CiscoWorks. Our vendor (partnered Cisco Vendor) told us that Cisco was developing an appliance like WCS and CNR that runs Redhat for CiscoWorks.

Does any one have any info on this or could this be a rumor?

We do not run Windows devices on any of our network enterprise and this would be so cool!

Oracle is getting to be a clone of Windows..in our opinion

If this is true, I will happy to sit and wait for it.

We now run LMS 4.0 on a SUN/Oracle T2000 and it seems to be bottlenecking.

The LMS 4.1 beta is finished recently. So the (virtual) applicance should be ready soon.

I've told other customers I expect something October, November this year.

Could be sooner but if I were cisco, I would test rather than rush.

Cheers,

Michel

P.S.

Upgrade to 4.01 in the mean time

I had been wishing for an appliance-based LMS offering for years, what with the constant struggle jumping through all the hoops for temporary expiring "root" access just to do my job keeping LMS going on Solaris. It could've been worse, on Windows, where even telnet was denied to non-Windows Admin users.
