CiscoWorks LMS 3.2 Temperature OutOfRange errors

Hey gang!

I've got a new install of CiscoWorks LMS and am getting temperature errors on my 6500 VSS.  It looks like the outlet sensor is just hitting the 45C threshold.

My question is are theses default settings accurate or do I need to adjust them?  The temperature in the comms room is fine and there are no performance issues.

Also is there a document with recommended temperature ranges for the components?

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,

Not seeing anything specific for temperature on 6500 VSS

Most cisco equipment has: Operating temperature: 32 to 104°F (0 to 40°C)

Don't think this equipment is an exception.

I would ask TAC how this can happen on multiple devices.

Cheers,

Michel

Could be something is blocking airflow, pager dust.

Could be a chip heating up before dying. Got a service contract?

Does cli   show environment alarm threshold   confirm what LMS says?

Cheers,

Michel

Hello,

Yeah, we have a contract but the kits new and it's happening on 2 blades on 2 different switches, so I'm not sure if this is normal.

Show env confirms thereadings are correct:

switch 1 module 9:

  switch 1 module 9 power-output-fail: OK

  switch 1 module 9 outlet temperature: 47C

  switch 1 module 9 inlet temperature: 27C

Would like to know if there's anything published on this?

Thanks,

Jim

Thanks, I'll give the blades a clean then log a tac case if the problem persists.
