Ciscoworks LMS Tomcat and Apache service did not start

Tomcat and Apache service did not start after LMS (version 2.6) is restarted.

We started Apache service manually (from Windows services), but Tomcat still is not working.

We have been seeing a rash of customers experiencing this problem, and all of them have Sophos anti-virus installed. There is a problem with Sophos and Java which is affecting more than just LMS. The current solution is to uninstall (not just disable) Sophos from the server.

You should also contact Sophos to find a solution which does not involve uninstalling the software.

Thanks,

we appreciate your help very much!

Odd, it seems we have a similar problem, that also started around the same date (end July) im still trying to investigate... I can forcebly start the Apache server, but this only produces a holding page saying...'Waiting for service to start' or words to that effect...

Are you running this on a windows 2000 Sp4 box? As we had some security updates applied (230709):

Restart Required:

- Security Update for Windows 2000 (KB961501)

- Security Update for Windows 2000 (KB970238)

- Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (KB969897)

- Security Update for Windows 2000 (KB968537)

Running:

cwjava -cw NMSROOT com.cisco.nm.cmf.jrm.jobcli

Gives:

Unable to launch JVM

Java:

Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_20-b02), although this was only added after viewing it as a recommendation in:

Diagnosing Problems With CiscoWorks Server, Chapter 10, FAQ's.
