DeviceDiscovery Process In Transient Terminated

Was having problem starting device discovery in Campus Manager. After looking at a couple of different things, noticed that DeviceDiscovery is in TRANSIENT TERMINATED ProcessState.

Has anyone ran into this before?

I have updated software to latest and greatest.

Thanks in advance for helping the hopeless.

Thanks I will do that.

i have exactly the same issue - using:-

CiscoWorks Common Services 3.0.4

Campus Manager 4.0.4

CiscoView 6.1.4

Device Fault Manager 2.0.4

Internetwork Performance Monitor 2.6.0

Integration Utility 1.6.0

Resource Manager Essentials 4.0.4

is there a fix or workaround for this?

thanks

andy

you can try replacing your corrupt file by doing the following:

1. stop the daemon manager

2. rename DeviceDiscovery.properties to DeviceDiscovery.properties.old,then

copy DeviceDiscovery.properties.orig, and rename it

to DeviceDiscovery.properties

3. restart daemons

4. check, and configure your snmp and discovery settings and run a discovery

thanks for the reply

i tried this earlier without success.

discovery/snmp settings all look ok but when i run a discovery, the status returns to idle within seconds (usually takes ~30 seconds) - the results show one device which Campus Manager says is unreachable. is the ANI database corrupt? how can you restore to original settings (i'm currently evaluating Cisco LMS so the data isn't to important)

To reinit the ANI database you would run the following from the command line:

/CSCOpx/bin

reinitdb.pl -restore

If you are showing one device as unreachable then its more than likely that you have connectivity or snmp problems getting to that seed device.

Can you ping the device? How about snmpwalk from the NMS station?

ran reinitdb.pl -restore (it was in folder \CSCOpx\campus\bin) - when i started up ciscoworks and went to campus manager every device had disappearred except the 1 device in the results for device discovery (this was before i had even started a discovery).

i'll try an snmpwalk and get back to you

device is snmp reachable. i've reinstalled all the Ciscoworks apps but device discovery stiil doesn't work.
