exempt prime infrastructure user from logout timer

hi,

I was wondering if you guys might be able to help me. I am an intern at a dutch healthcare provider and we want to give our servicedesk a window that will show a dashboard with dashlets. but currently it keeps timing out after 15 minutes.

is there a way to exempt the user [dashboard] from the user idle timer?

Well for users that had already been defined, their default settings are just like the system default -- their account would log out after 15 minutes. The "danger" is that someone can then easily change their default settings so that they do not get logged out, since then the overall prohibition has been removed. Again, changing the global setting doesn't change the existing user settings - they would still get logged out after 15 minutes.

If you require something like that, where only a single user does not get logged out, talk to your account rep and ask them to quote you some customization services.

Yes there is but you will also need to change the setting for the global timeouts.

In the Administration --> System settings you can set the Logout idle users to true or false and you can also set a timer for it. So, you would need to turn off the log out idle users setting, then on the preferences for the service desk user, you would then be able to turn off the logout settings for that user.

hi,

Sorry for the late response.

does this exempt only the current user (dashboard) from the logout timer or does it completely stop the logout timer from functioning?

we would like to keep everyone except user Dashboard, loging out after 15 minutes of inactivity.

maybe there is another way to get prime to render a dashboard
