How do I get Ciscoworks to send SNMP traps

Hello all,

I have an installation of Ciscoworks 2.3 on Windows 2000 server. The only modules installed are 'Management Center for IDS Sensors' and 'Security Monitor'. I need to have Ciscoworks send an SNMP trap for every IDS alert generated by the IDS devices it manages. I've been searching for a considerable time now and haven't found the answer. I'm hoping that one of you can point me in the right direction. So far I've found the 'eventtotrap' 'Event Consumer' but have no idea whether this is what I'm looking for, neither can I find any documentation on how to configure it. Can anyone offer any advice?

Hi Chris,

there is no product like CiscoWorks 2.3.

I assume you are talking about LMS 2.2.

The Trap forwarding was done with the DFM. There was a configurable option to forward traps to another server.

You're probably talking about VMS 2.3 with the security modules (IDSMC)

I don't think you're going to be able to accomplish what you want to do with VMS. The traps will be sent from the IDS to an NMS, but don't see where VMS can forward traps.

The eventtotrap portion won't do what you're looking for
