Dear Cisco;

I have Cisco Works LMS 4.0 on Win 2K8 64 bits on VMware EXs. I am facing issue with reference to Inventory Collection, my 10% devices (including Routers & Switches) Inventory collection is failed and give me error (Device sensed, but collection failed). I increase the SNMP timeout 10 sec, 30 sec, 60 sec and even 100 sec the result be the same.

Best regards;

Shoaib Ahmed

the first steps to troubleshoot this issue are these:

- update all device packages to the latest releas;

   to do it online you need first to install the patch for BugId CSCto46927

http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=283434800&flowid=19062&os=Windows&softwareid=280775103&release=psu_cisco.com_1&rellifecycle=&relind=AVAILABLE&reltype=all

after installing the patch you can do the device package update online

    Admin > System > Software Center

when the device packages are installed, delete one of the devices in question; I am not quite sure but I think this option should be here:

    Inventory > Device Administration: Manage Device State

and setup an new Archive Mgmt job for this device to see if the proble is solved:

    Configuration > Configuration Archive:Synchronization

also consider of upgrading to LMS 4.0.1. You can also upgrade to LMS 4.1 for free if you have an active CON-SAS contract for LMS (you need to get a new license for LMS 4.1):

LMS 4.0.1 Update:
