We are having issues with getting our new LMS 4.2 license installed.
We are using a VM and dont ever see the license file in the GUI no matter what we have tried.
THe license file we recieved was a .lic file, so I presume this is the correct one ..
Can anybody point me to the correct instructions to get this thing installed
Below is the file that came with the license file, but it only includes instructions for Windows and SOlaris..
but we are using the Soft install ????

That email should have a *.lic license file attached. If not, please check if your e-mail system potentially blocked the attachment. It's a very small text file - less than 1 kb.
Once you have the file in hand, follow the procedure here to apply it on your server.

I'm having the same issue. I have acquired the license file, copied it to the server and granted it the appropriate permissions.
I go to the License Administration on the web interface, click update and then browse. In the instruction it says that I should provide the path to the license file located on the server. However the browse window I'm being presented with is within my own computer and not the server, so I don't know how to provide the path to the file on the server.
When I choose the file from my computer, then click OK it returns the message the license has been updated, however it remains to be Evaluation and does not change to the full one.

Hi Vitaly,
follow the below steps to Installed the new License File: 1. Stop the Licensing server by issuing the command: pdterm LicenseServer 2. Place this new License(LMS2013xxxxxx.lic) file on the Cisco works server . CAUTION !!! This file is emailed to you from Cisco. This file's name should be in the form of LMS2013xxxxxx.lic, and this file MUST NOT be located at your 3. Go to the CSCOpx\etc\licenses directory and delete all the *.lic files (If any) 4. Start the Licensing server by issuing the command: pdexec LicenseServer 5. Check to make sure the Licensing server has started by issuing the command: pdshow LicenseServer 6. On your LMS 4.x GUI go to Admin > System > License Management. Click the "Update" box -> In the pop-up window indicate the path where the new license file is located and -> Click "OK".
This should update the license.
Thanks-
Afroz
