Migrating Cisco Prime Lan Management Solution 4.0 to 4.2

Hello,

Anybody have done the migration from LMS 4.0 to LMS 4.2.

I need the documentation but i can't download from CISCO page because it requires a service contract to evaluate LMS 4.0.

Is it difficult,

Can anyone provide a documentation for migration?

They give me two options:Remote migration a Inline Upgrade.

If i do Inline Upgrade what do i need to do ? I mean, this is like an option you can press in the server and it upgrades automatically? Do i have a contract or something?. I would like to use this option.....

Hi Jose,

As you want to go for Inline upgrade you need to bring your LMS 4.0 to 4.0.1 version and then to 4.2.

Please refer to the readme doc below for 4.0.1.

It is very simple procedure which you need to follow.

1) First of all ensure that you are meeting the prerequisites for the upgrade.

2) Then if you OK with #1 and are having respective upgrade CD then it would be ideal situation or else you can download the same from Cisco Site going to following link and opting for right versions and downloading them. For this you would require to have the rights to do so.

Just a precautionary note. Before starting upgrade from one version to other you may like to take the backup of the data. Please find the links below for the procedure of the backup and restore of the data below. Please take note to use unique temp backup directory/folder names.

All right, now i got it. I have to upgrade to 4.1 prior to 4.2.

There's something that i don't have clear. You mention an upgrade CD or download link.

I followed the link that you gave me, selected Cisco LMS 4.1 but theres many options in there and i don't see a explicit link for upgrade. These are the options that i see:

What option do i have to choose.

I have migrated from 4.0.1 to 4.2 but we have a current contract which allowed us to get the 4.2 licence. you will need a 4.2 licence in order to upgrade.

Good news that you are successful with the upgrade.

Ideally speaking license would be required for the product in question. Please refer to the following docs/links for more info on licensing and check as which category is applicable to you.

A. CiscoWorks LMS 4.0 customers and Cisco Prime LMS 4.1 customers with active SAS contracts can obtain a no charge service release update to Cisco Prime LMS 4.2, which is part of the Cisco Prime Infrastructure bundle, through the Product Upgrade Tool at http://www.cisco.com/upgrade.

SAS does not cover major upgrades from LMS 2.x and 3.x; an upgrade part number will need to be purchased to move to Cisco Prime LMS 4.2. These upgrade part numbers reflect a significant discount to protect customers' investment in the Cisco Prime product line. Refer to the Cisco Prime Infrastructure Ordering Guide located athttp://www.cisco.com/go/primeinfrastructure for details.
