Hi
I have MRTG polling all my routers. The graphs show me Incoming and Outgoing traffic stats but what direction is this? Am I seeing Incoming from the outside of the interface (WAN) or is this the Inside of the interface (LAN)? In other words - what way round am I seeing the stats? This is causing some confusion in our office.
Thanks

hi
Incoming traffic does represents the traffic coming from outside into ur network.(like FTP downloads)
i feel by default you got to have color - green being used which represents the downloaded traffic.
Outgoing traffic points the traffic originated from ur network and going out to the outside world.
especially the FTP uploads or any DNS request etc.,
you got to have blue color to represent the same..

Many thanks spremkumar.
Just proved the theory by TFTPing some files uo to switches. Interesting point to note though are the graphs on the fa0 interface shows the reverse of the se0 interface. ie.
se0 Incoming = traffic coming from the WAN.
se0 Outgoing = traffic coming from the LAN.
