Multiple IP Addressing with virtual Machines

Hello,

I'm using a CISCO WRP500 Home/Small Business Router with the latest Firmware.

On my Notebook I'm using a bunch of virtual machines. Everything with it works fine, I get a right and stable IP Address, as well the virtual machines. Since I'm using a Repeater for a longer WLAN-Distance, I have the Problem the virtual machines doesn't receive a good IP Address. This problem has just the virtual machines.

All the other Clients have no conflicts with IP Addresses or other Network problems.

Have someone any idea how can I resolve this issue?

I'm using Windows 10 with Hyper-V

Best regards

Georg

"doesn't receive a good IP Address"

Makes me wonder why is it a good IP address!

Repeater is always a problem and the question is, besides DHCP, do you face any other problems when going through the repeater?  Cause, if this is related only to the DHCP, you can simply extend the DHCP lease time so that VM does not need to ask IP frequently or even work with static IP.

But, the best scenrio is not use repeater at all.

It's just the only issue what I can find in my network, but this one really
annoying me! All the other devices working well. Before I'm write this
posting, I figure out, when I'm connecting my notebook with the
router(wireless) directly(without the Repeater in the middle), the VM's
receive the IP addresses from the range and everything is working well. For
an additional hint.

Can you tell me what does concerned this issue with the extended lease time?
I think it's just the time how long an IP - address is valid on a device in
my network(after the DORA - Process)..

Hello,

what barnd/type/model is the repeater ?

I guess the obvious 'solution' would be to assign static IP addresses to the virtual machines, is that an option (at all) ?

It's a Netgear EX3800 WiFi Range Extender.

I see this solution as the last option.

Hello,

I don't know what the default is, but if you have not done so yet, try and run the repeater at 2.4Ghz. Also make sure it is running the latest firmware version (1.0.0.96 according to the documentation)...

Hi

With extended lease time, you are going to have less problem as machine will not need DHCP for that period. But, I know this does not fix the problem.

The problem about repeater it that they amplify what the receive. People expect then to get a bad signal and then turn it in a good signal but that´s not how it works. If they receive a bad signal, they will amplify this bad signal and spread it out.

I have added two screenshots to the answer. That's are the DHCP settings and
the Repeater status.

What I can determine from the settings, The devices receive a good signal on
2.4 GHz - The problem occurs on both signals(2.4GHz and 5GHz).
