I have to determine a test procedure which tests a small Local Area Network performance. and need some advices from you guys.
Small Network consists of four 4506 switches, 50 end user sun workstations connected to 4506s. Test will be done by software which I havent choosen yet :( I will be able to use cisco works for monitoring the network during tests.
Since the network is small, I dont have many ideas about test steps but here are some I come up with:
- I can perform stress test on switches
- During the stress test, I can send ping requests and see if the reply time is in acceptable range.
- record the bit error rate
I'll ver much appreciate your contribution to the test procedure. :)
Can you suggest a software which is capable to do above.
