Has anyone used any tools besides Excel/Visio to create maps of their network?
I looked at solarwinds but due to the hack everyone is now down on solarwinds.
I checked on a couple of others, Datadog and manage engine but they would duplicate some functions we handle with Prime and ISE.
We have to create a document.
The Network Topology Diagram/System Enterprise and Information Security
Architecture document should:
1 Be dated
2 Clearly delineate accreditation boundaries
3 Identify the CCSDs of all connections to the DISN
4 Identify equipment inventory (to include the most recent configuration
including any enclave boundary firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS),
premise router, routers, switches, backside connections, Internet Protocol
(IP) addresses, encryption devices, Cross Domain Solutions (CDS)
5 Other SIPRNET connections (access points) must be shown; the flow of
information to, from, and through all connections, host IP addresses, and
CCSD number, if known must be shown
6 Identify any other IA or IA-enabled products deployed in the enclave
7 Identify any connections to other systems/networks/enclaves
8 Identification of other connected enclaves must include:
o The name of the organization that owns the enclave
o The connection type (e.g., wireless, dedicated point-to-point, etc.)
o IP addresses for all devices within the enclave
o The organization type (e.g., DOD, federal agency, contractor, etc.)
9 Identify Internetworking Operating System (IOS) version
10 Include the model number(s) and IP's of the devices on the diagram;
diagram must show actual and planned interfaces to internal and external
LANs or WANs (including backside connections)

- For Cisco based networks , albeit not all of your items perhaps but 90% , Cisco Prime would be the way to go.

how much you like to spend
Look at IP Fabric. (if you are not keen to go to solarwinds or PRTG)

PRTG full version is free for trial, not harm install and test your requirement, they do have a map.
